This is How I Feel You: Desolating Grip and an Unselfish Concern

It starts like this.

Then I claim the work space.

Then I channel her (click me).

And him (click me).

And tint the wax.

Then layer it onto the top surface
of many layers
of plaster
and
natural pigmented,
filtered but not
bleached,
beeswax
with pine resin
(for that added touch of the curing process).

And then...
apparently slit my fingers
while scrapping away layers
of encaustic wax.

And it ends like this.
Three feet by four feet.

Extremely difficult to
photograph effectively.

Texture.
Layers.
Pigment.
Oxidization.

Figurative.
2D.
3D.
Painting.
Sculpture.

Psychological.
Physical.
Subjective.

Yes...

it's all that...

and...

it's so very very personal.

Inspired by a dear friend,
this is...
an Unselfish Concern.
One foot by one foot.
Encaustic wax,
graphite,
plaster,
oil sticks,
ink
rusted wire.

Sweetly provocative song with a markedly unusual and oh so creative video...
because really...
life is far to short to
play it safe in fear of what "OTHERS" may think.

Day-Drinking and Encaustic Art

I'm pretty sure when a gal is raised
in an Irish Catholic Chicago family
Day-Drinking is
part of the program.

Now that she lives
in the PacNW
should in no way
 interfere with
family tradition.

Group that with an artful responsibility...

hot beeswax...

old-school dental instruments
(for wax carving)...

and Voila!

(zero credit given to Day-Drinking
for it was a slow going process)...

a fundraising donation piece for
a dear friend
who lives day in and day out with

I'm honored to have a gift to contribute
to something
so much larger
than myself.

Pre Day-Drinking...
I began creating my

artist website.

Kindred Soul in Black & White, After Cancer

After cancer,

I am vulnerable, soft,

and emotional.

I am gritty, tough,

brave, and bold.

I am afraid,

and I am ready to kick some ass.

Cancer made me examine my deepest emotions,
and took me through my darkest times.
Cancer had strengthened my relationships.
Cancer has made me finally ready to go out there
and live my life. I am not glad I had cancer, but,
without it, I wouldn’t be this me that I am today.

View, Paddle, Breathe, Repeat.

I'm maintaining a different perspective...

for a view world otherwise seen
through a wide-open lens.

I'd rather be doing this...

here...

and here...

and here.

I do have a day job...
of which I enjoy...

but this is where I breathe...
where I can imagine more vividly...
how to limit my regrets...
and just BE...
